Dr. Renee LaFleur, Professor of History at UT Martin, will be presenting her research March 19, 2026, 6 p.m. at the Martin Public Library. The program titled "Doing in Private What Men Did in Public: Women's Study Clubs in Martin, Tennessee" will explain how women’s study clubs of the Progressive Era provided a middle ground, a space in which women felt comfortable doing that which men did in public. White elite women in Martin used this space to build organizational skills and networks that they needed to successfully lead civic reforms and wartime activities. The program is sponsored by AAUW Martin Branch as part of Women’s History Month. Everyone is welcome to attend.

UT Martin Department of Nursing, WCHGS, and Martin Public Library present: History of Military Nursing.
Theresa Craige, a 2019 graduate of UT Martin, will present an engaging program highlighting military nursing history, with a particular focus on World War II. Her presentation will feature items from her personal collection of rare medical and nursing artifacts from the World War II era.
This event is FREE and open to the public.
